Which Qatar eSIM plan should I choose?
For a stopover of a day or two, the Qatar and Kuwait 2GB, 15 Days plan at $5.27 is enough. For a week of business or a holiday, choose the Qatar 5GB, 15 Days plan, or 10GB if you use a lot of video. For a longer stay, the Qatar 10GB, 90 Days plan lasts three months.
Can I use the eSIM on a Doha stopover?
Yes. Install it before your first flight and switch it on after landing at Hamad International. It works in the transit area and, if you leave the airport, on a Discover Qatar transit tour or in the city. The plan keeps working if you fly back through Doha on your return.
Can I leave Hamad Airport during a layover?
Many travellers can. Citizens of around 100 countries get a visa waiver on arrival, and others can apply for a visa through the Hayya platform before they travel. If you stay airside you don't need a visa. Check the current rules for your passport before you fly.
Do WhatsApp calls work in Qatar?
WhatsApp messages, photos and voice notes work everywhere in Qatar. WhatsApp voice and video calls are blocked on Qatar's local networks. On a travel eSIM they sometimes work because the data is routed abroad, but we cannot promise it. BOTIM is licensed in Qatar, and Zoom and Microsoft Teams usually work for business calls.
Does the eSIM work at Hamad International Airport?
Yes. Hamad International has strong 5G and 4G. If you installed your eSIM before your flight, it connects as soon as you turn on Data Roaming after landing.
Which networks does the Qatar eSIM use?
Qatar has two mobile networks, Ooredoo and Vodafone Qatar. Both have 5G across Doha, including West Bay, Lusail and the airport. Your eSIM connects to the network available to it and your own SIM stays active.
Does the Qatar eSIM also work in Kuwait?
The Qatar and Kuwait plans do. One QR code covers both countries, which suits business trips that take in Doha and Kuwait City. The Qatar-only plans work in Qatar only.
How much data do I need for a week in Doha?
For a week in Doha, 3GB to 5GB covers maps, Uber or Karwa taxis, messages and social media if you use hotel WiFi in the evenings. If you have video calls every day or work on the move, choose 10GB.
Does the eSIM work in the desert and at the Inland Sea?
Near Al Wakrah, Mesaieed and the main roads you get good 4G. Out at the Inland Sea (Khor Al Adaid) the signal gets weak in the dunes. Download offline maps before a desert trip and go with a licensed tour operator.
Can I use the Qatar eSIM in Saudi Arabia or the UAE?
No. The Qatar plans work in Qatar, and some also in Kuwait. For a trip that goes on to Riyadh, Makkah or Dubai, add a Saudi Arabia or UAE eSIM. You can order them in the same WhatsApp chat.
Do I need to download an app to use GleeSim in Qatar?

Is my phone compatible with the Qatar eSIM?
