Comparing a Mexico eSIM vs Bell travel pass cost is the first money decision on a winter trip south. Bell charges $16 a day to use your plan in Mexico, or $70 for a 14 day Caribbean and Mexico Travel Pass. Rogers and Telus charge $18 a day. A GleeSim Mexico eSIM with 5GB for 30 days costs US$24.90, which is roughly CA$34, and it is paid once, not per day.
Below are the real numbers for all three big Canadian carriers, when a carrier pass is actually the better deal, and how to set up an eSIM before you board for Cancun, Puerto Vallarta or an all-inclusive in the Riviera Maya.
All three carriers charge a daily fee the first time your phone uses data, makes or receives a call, or sends a text on a Mexican network. They also sell passes that cover a fixed number of days.
| Carrier | Daily fee in Mexico | Caribbean and Mexico pass |
|---|---|---|
| Bell (Roam Better) | $16 a day | $70 for 14 days |
| Rogers (Roam Like Home) | $18 a day | $70 for 14 days, $80 for 30 days |
| Telus (Easy Roam) | $18 a day | $60 for 7 days, $70 for 14 days |
Figures in Canadian dollars from Holafly’s Bell Mexico guide, Holafly’s Rogers Mexico guide and Holafly’s Telus guide, updated between June and September 2026. Carriers change these prices often, so check your own account before you travel.
The Rogers roaming Mexico daily fee is $18 per line, charged per calendar day in Eastern Time. A week in Cancun on daily roaming is $126 per phone, and two weeks is $252.
The Telus Easy Roam Caribbean price is $18 a day on the standard rate. The 7 day Caribbean and Mexico pass at $60 works out to $8.57 a day, and the 14 day pass at $70 to $5 a day.
Here is one phone on a normal holiday. GleeSim prices are in US dollars, as shown on our checkout, with a rough Canadian dollar figure beside them.
| Trip | Bell daily | Bell 14 day pass | GleeSim Mexico eSIM |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 nights, light use | $80 | $70 | 3GB, 30 days: US$14.95 (about CA$21) |
| 7 nights, normal use | $112 | $70 | 5GB, 30 days: US$24.90 (about CA$34) |
| 14 nights, heavy use | $224 | $70 | 10GB, 30 days: US$49.80 (about CA$69) |
Be honest with yourself about how you use your phone. The Bell, Rogers and Telus passes use the data already in your Canadian plan and include unlimited calls and texts back to Canada. If you have a large data plan, make a lot of normal phone calls and are away for the full 14 days, a $70 pass is fair value.
The eSIM wins when:
If you want to avoid Rogers roaming in Mexico, the daily fee has to stay off. With an eSIM installed:
Your Canadian SIM stays in the phone, so your number and banking texts still reach you.

The best eSIM for Cancun from Canada in 2026 is one you install at home, that works in the Hotel Zone, at the airport and on day trips, and that you can top up in a chat. A Cancun eSIM from Canada on the Mexico 5GB, 30 day plan covers most one week all-inclusive trips.
Coverage is strong in Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Tulum town. It drops inside cenotes, in the jungle around Coba and on boat trips out to Isla Mujeres or Cozumel between the ports. Save your tour pickup details before you set off.
Order on WhatsApp from home in Toronto, Calgary or Montreal, scan the QR code on your own WiFi, and the eSIM is ready when you land at Cancun International. Nothing to buy at the airport and no SIM swap.
Puerto Vallarta is one of the busiest winter routes from Canada. A Puerto Vallarta eSIM for a winter stay of two weeks or more fits the 10GB, 30 day plan, or the 10GB, 90 day plan at US$57.11 for snowbirds staying the whole season.
| Plan | Price (USD) |
|---|---|
| 1GB, 7 days | $5.71 |
| 2GB, 15 days | $9.95 |
| 3GB, 30 days | $14.95 |
| 5GB, 30 days | $24.90 |
| 10GB, 30 days | $49.80 |
| 10GB, 90 days | $57.11 |
| 20GB, 30 days | $99.62 |

Package holidays are where roaming bills surprise people, because the whole trip is prepaid and the phone bill arrives a month later. An eSIM for a Sunwing all-inclusive trip or an eSIM for a Flair Vacations package works the same as any other: order it the week before, install it at home, and switch it on in Cancun or Puerto Vallarta.
If the whole family is going, every phone needs its own eSIM, just as every line pays its own roaming fee. We explain how to set that up in one WhatsApp chat in our group travel eSIM guide.
GleeSim sells separate eSIMs for the Dominican Republic and Jamaica. Our Mexico plans do not cover them.
For a trip of a week or less, yes. A 5GB Mexico eSIM costs about CA$34 against $70 for Bell’s 14 day pass. For a full 14 days with heavy use of your Canadian plan’s data, the pass can be the better deal.
